Dr Lyle Gurrin joined the School of Population Health in July 2003 after ten years experience as biostatistician in both medical research institutions and private industry.  He teaches biostatistics to graduate students enrolled in programs featuring public health & epidemiology and through the Biostatistics Collaboration of Australia.  Lyle is a co-investigator on the HealthIron study examining genetic and environmental modifiers of hereditary haemochromatosis (iron overload disease) which is part of the Melbourne Collaborative Cohort Study.  He also works with a large team on a research program in childhood food allergy.

Lyle’s research interests in biostatistics are primarily in Bayesian methods in for longitudinal and correlated data, which encompasses his work in the analysis of family & twin data as well as the development of methods for evidence synthesis in genetic association studies.
