Application Process and Forms:


Local coursework applicants MUST:

  1. Complete the On-Line Application for Admission
  2. Provide the following supporting documentation: 
    • A detailed CV (including working history if applicable, specifying if the positions were part time or full time and the number of years/months employed),
    • Transcripts for ALL Courses completed including an explanation of the grading system used.  Students who have studied at the University of Melbourne do not need to provide this information.
    • Evidence of Course completion if not included on the Transcript
    • Master of Public Health Applicants only:  A personal statement of 250 words or less outlining why you wish to enrol in the MPH.
    • Referee Reports (see below for further explanation)

All supporting documentation must be certified and sent in hard copy to:

Whilst you do have the option to attach documentation to your on line application it is preferable that you do not attach the documents but just send them to us directly. Documentation must reach us before the deadline for applying.  Please ensure that all your documents are clearly marked with your Name and the Course you are applying for.


 Referee Reports:

Master of Public Health:  Applicants applying for Advanced Standing in the Master of Public Health MUST provide ONE Professional Referee Report written reference using the form provided below.  Students who are not eligible for Advanced Standing do not need to provide any references.

Advanced standing (without credit) is points granted towards the degree for work experience gained prior to entry into the course. In the Master of Public Health you may be granted:

  • up to 25 Points of Advanced Standing if you have a minimum of two years’ documented health related work experience; or
  • up to 50 Points of Advanced Standing if you have a minimum of two years’ documented public health related work experience.
Examples of health and public health related work experience are as follows:

Health related work experience:
 Nurse, doctor, allied health professional, psychologist public health systems, private health system or primary care (locally or internationally)
Public health related work experience:
 Health research, health promotion, health program development /management/evaluation, public health management, health policy
 Government,non government organizations, public health systems, private health systems (locally or internationally)

All Other Courses

Applicants applying for any Course (offered by the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health) other than the Master of Public Health MUST provide a total of two WRITTEN references.  This can be either academic or professional or a combination of both:
  1. Academic Referee Report
  2. Professional Referee Report
